Allan WenzelBiography

Allan R. Wenzel, PhD, is a native Seattleite who, when not at his Lake Cavanaugh summer home, resides in the District of Ballard. After attending local schools, he graduated from the University of Washington, receiving degrees in several fields, including history.

Wenzel has been a professional historian for more than twenty years and has authored a dozen books plus a number of magazine articles on a variety of historical topics concerning the Pacific Northwest.

After serving as a public school teacher, Wenzel became a college instructor, records manager and Boeing engineer. As a member of the Washington State Society, National Society of the Sons of the American Revolution with ten patriot ancestors, he was recently appointed to the newly created position of Washington State Archivist for Awards for the S.A.R. organization.

He also holds memberships in the Order of the Founders and Patriots of America, the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War, the Order of the First Families of Maryland, the Orders and Medals Society of America, the Society of Kentucky Pioneers, the Society of Indiana Pioneers and Washington Pioneers.
